Kavitha’s TRS Party Might Not Be Approved: What’s Next?
Kalvakuntla Kavitha opened a new segment in Telangana politics by launching her own political party in the name of TRS.
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 April 2026 7:55 PM ISTKalvakuntla Kavitha opened a new segment in Telangana politics by launching her own political party in the name of TRS. She is preparing to be active in the Telangana political landscape with this party.
However, the shocking news here is that Kavita has not yet officially registered the TRS party name with the election commission and there could be a big problem here.
This was pointed out by BRS leader Karthik, who stated that it is impossible for the election commission to approve the TRS party name that is contemplated by Kavita.
According to the latest post shared by Karthik on social media, “Election Commission of India won't permit it. ECI rules prevent reuse of similar names
The ECI does not allow registration of a new party if:
The name is identical or very similar to an existing/previous party. It may confuse voters. Cap of ten years is in place. I strongly believe the party is not registered yet with ECI. This is just a tactic to irritate us. All registered political parties are mentioned on the ECI website. Just an application would be made on it.”
If this actually turns out to be the case, then the EX will be complied not to officiate the TRS party name for Kavita. This will essentially mean that she will have to come up with an alternative name in the near future
