Chiranjeevi reacts on Balayya’s psycho comment in assembly
This has now triggered a reaction from megastar Chiranjeevi and here’s what he had to say about the same.
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Sept 2025 8:21 PM ISTEarlier in the Andhra Pradesh assembly today, Nandamuri Balakrishna referred to the time when Chiranjeevi lead a Tollywood delegation to meet a psycho. This has now triggered a reaction from megastar Chiranjeevi and here’s what he had to say about the same.
On September 25th, during the Andhra Pradesh Assembly session, honorable MLA Mr. Kamineni Srinivas made certain comments. Responding to that, honorable MLA Mr. Nandamuri Balakrishna mentioned my name and said, “As Kamineni Srinivas said, Chiranjeevi came only when he was strongly asked.
That is false. Nobody asked him strongly. If he was shouted at, then he came down. Otherwise, he would not have even met the Cinematography Minister,” and spoke in a sarcastic manner. I watched these remarks live on a TV channel.
Since my name was mentioned, I want to give a clarification to the public. When Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government was in power, several film producers, directors, and representatives from the Film Chamber came to me.
They requested me to take initiative and discuss with the government about increasing ticket prices as film production costs were rising. Among them were Rajamouli, Koratala Siva, Trivikram Srinivas, Mahesh Babu, N.T. Rama Rao, D.V.V. Danayya, Mythri Movies team, and a few others.
As per their request, I spoke with the then Cinematography Minister, Mr. Perni Nani. Later, the Chief Minister himself invited me to lunch. During that meeting, I explained the issues faced by the film industry.
After further discussions, the government finally agreed to increase ticket prices, which benefitted producers, distributors, and exhibitors. This decision also helped movies like Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya.
I always treat everyone—whether the Chief Minister or a common man—with respect. As I am currently not in India, I am issuing this clarification through a press note.
