It's a hard-to-believe reality check for the ruling BRS in North Telangana. The party is slowly losing grip on its citadel of North Telangana. Anti-incumbency is gathering storms even in places which were considered impregnable and unbreachable.

Recent public mood surveys have shocked the party top bosses that all is not well in the north Telangana districts of Adilabad, Komuram Bheem, Bhadrachalam, Nizamabad, Warangal and Karimnagar.

What shocked the party top leaders is the fact that even the farmers under the Kaleshwaram project are unhappy. The government is touting this project as its biggest yet achievement. But the farmers feel that this is a wasted project that is serving no real purpose. As a result, the ruling BRS has now reportedly shifted its focus to the North Telangana to address these issues.

The paddy purchase is another aspect that is causing heartburn among the voters. The predominantly farmers community is deeply unhappy that the government's tall words are not matching actions on the ground. Though Rythu Bandhu is being implemented, the farmers are unhappy that the arrears of paddy purchases have not yet been cleared.

The study has shocked the BRS in another aspect. The study showed that the graph of the Congress Party is on the rise. In fact, North Telangana has always been Congress Party's Achilles' heel. In 2014, out of the 43 seats, it could win only Narsampet, Jagityal and Bhainsa. By 2018, the number fell to just two. It could win only Manthani and Bhupalpally.

According to the study, the Congress is currently in a position to give a tough fight to the ruling BRS in about 15 seats.
