Information Technology aka IT is one of the big sectors in the country given the income it generates. It is no wonder that the governments also prefer the sector. When we talk about IT employees, things like high packages, weekend offs and team outings come to mind. Given the image of the IT people assume that the industry is fancy.

But there is another side of the coin to this and there are some areas which need to focus. IT employees have to sit for hours together for work and the employees go through a lot of issues both mentally and physically.

An MLA grabbed everyone’s attention by talking about the plight of the IT employees like long working hours and the work burden. Addressing the Assembly House the MLA shed light on the issue and urged the government to look into the work structure of the IT industry.

CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao became a sensation in the state with his speech. He is being credited for talking for the IT employees and highlighting their plight. He said that the employees work for long hours spoiling their health while the companies are earning big amounts.

The Communist leader said that the IT employees sit for 14 to 16 hours daily to work and there should be monitoring on the working hours of the employees for their well-being. IT employees are welcoming the proposal.

Usually, we don't see legislators talking about IT employees and the issues they face with the work culture. But the CPI MLA took everyone by surprise by talking about them and urging the government to monitor the working hours.

It is known that the Congress government in Karnataka recently proposed an increase in working hours for the employees. Congress is in power in Telangana and the CPI MLA wants a monitoring.
