Now Donkeys are on high demand. No words can describe the demand they have. The demand is such that they are even stolen and exported to other nations illegally. Every year lakhs of Donkeys are said to be used for a special purpose.

It is known that Africa is the home to the majority of the donkey population in the world. Stats say that around three-thirds of the population are in the continent. Despite this, the Donkeys are said to be stolen and illegally exported to China and other countries due to the demand.

There is a popular opinion in China that gelatin which is obtained from donkey skin can improve health. Gelatin is used in traditional medicine. Gelatin can be derived only by boiling the skin. For this donkeys have to be killed and they are killed in big numbers.

Not just in China, but Donkeys are killed in other nations also. On average 59 lakh donkeys are killed every year for the use of Gelatine in traditional medicines.

Donkey grazing is one of the major occupations in Africa. The majority of people are involved in this. They export Donkeys to other countries like China. On top of this, it is said that people also steal the donkeys from livestock and illegally export them to other countries.

The demand for donkeys is creating good opportunities for farmers in a few countries. If we take Pakistan as an example, more and more donkeys are grown there for the demand.
