Dharmapuri Srinivas- A Political Lesson!

Dharmapuri Srinivas was a big name in the past not just in the combined state but in Delhi too. He stood as an example of trust and faith and is an icon in the Congress party. If the party had to discuss anything in the 1990s he was invited to Delhi. There are a few instances where the party took decisions on his opinions. The value the high command gave to his opinions speaks volumes about his stature.

The current politics is a journey on two boats of opportunity and need. But Srinivas is not like this. At one point of time, he eyed the Chief Minister's post. However, he could not get the post. Due to various reasons, he was unhappy. A regional party invited him seeing this and offered Deputy CM post too.

Srinivas not only rejected the proposal but also said that he stays with the Congress till his last breath and followed it. This should be a lesson to the current generation of leaders who often shift loyalties. DS also changed the party one. But there is a reason behind this. When the party ignored his suggestions of giving chances to the younger generation, he took the decision. He did not seek any posts for him.

He was given appropriate respect in the BRS. However, his importance was reduced with KTR’s wave in the party. DS straightaway left the party. There was an opinion that he did not get any post and hence he left the party. But there is no truth behind this and he himself said this. Dharmapuri Srinivas is an icon for the current generation as he takes decisions considering various aspects. He is a political lesson too.
