The results were out and the alliance came to power. The new government is likely to take charge soon. Reports say that Chandrababu Naidu might take oath as the CM in a few months. With this, the new regime would start in the state. There are a lot of expectations on the new government.

Ever since the state saw a power change there has been a big debate of what would happen to the Volunteers now. Volunteers were introduced by the YCP to take the fruits of the schemes to the beneficiaries' doorsteps. In the initial days of the campaign, YCP said that Volunteers might be removed if the new government comes.

It is known that TDP said Volunteers will be given Rs 10000 every month and they will be given training for skill development. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu himself made these comments.

There are around 2 lakh Volunteers in the state excluding those who have resigned. What would happen to them is the main question. 2 lakhs is not a small number and they can come in handy in doing many things. Even if half the count is sent to skill development, one lakh is plenty.

They have been used so far in handing over the pensions, ration goods and others to the beneficiaries. As TDP also announced pensions, they can be used for hanging over the pensions. They are very well-versed with the locality and their knowledge can come in handy if the government has any plans.

Another debate is also going on about whether the count of Volunteers would be increased or decreased. We might get clarity on this soon after the new government takes charge. Let us wait and see what happens next.
