Earlier we have seen this in Karnataka and other states and everyone knows the sensation it created back then. Recently a college in Maharashtra imposed a ban saying that the students should follow a uniform in dressing.
The issue went to the notice of the court with the students moving the High Court. After banning hijab and other religious dress, the educational institution banned Torn Jeans and T-shirts. A circular had been issued by the institution saying that students should wear decent dress.
The administration said that students should wear a decent dress and make sure that the dress won't reveal their religion and display cultural disparity. Half shirts and full shirts are allowed but not revealing dresses.
The Chembur Trombay Education Society which earlier banned Hijab announced the new ban. Students of NG Acharya and DK Marathe College were directed to follow the rules. The society said that the dress code should be followed within the campus.
Students were directed that if they want to move throughout the college then the code should be followed. They should go to the common rooms and remove Hijab, burka, naqab, stoles, caps, and badges.
When the society said no to the Hijab on the campus a few students moved the High Court. However, the Court said that it could not interfere in the issue and left the matter to the administration. With more restrictions on dress code came into resistance we have to see how the students react.
Jeans and T-shirts are worn by students mostly. Both boys and girls prefer the style. Now the college said the dress should be followed within the campus. Let us wait and see what happens next in this.
