BJP says there are 3.6 lakh fake voters in GHMC limits

The BJP in Telangana has begun a massive programme to 'cleanse' the voters' list. The party feels that large-scale enrolment of fake voters is at the root of the stunning victories that the All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is posting in the old city of Hyderabad. The party argues that there are several lakhs of fake voters in the GHMC limit.

The BJP sources feel that the enrolment of fake voters has increased exponentially since 2014 and it alleges that a senior civil servant associated with the GHMC was behind the rise in the fake voters. The BJP also argues that the AIMIM was taking advantage of these voters, who belong to a particular community.

The BJP claimed that there were 79321 fake voters in Yaqutpura assembly constituency. The number of such bogus voters is 79546 in Chandrayangutta constituency which is represented by Akbaruddin Owaisi. In Charminar constituency, there are 42188 such voters. The number of fake voters in Malakpet is 48543, in Bahadurpura is 56416, in Nampalli is 47121 votes.

The BJP argues that a senior civil servant, who has been with the GHMC ever since the formation of Telangana state is actively conniving with the MIM in enrolling bogus voters. It has already lodged a formal complaint with the central election commission. The party sources are all set to launch a major campaign to weed out the fake voters.
