Telangana Wants To Use Two Airports Like Pune,Goa?

The Telangana Cabinet met for a crucial meeting and took some key decisions. Expanding the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) by connecting various areas of the city by spending a massive budget was proposed which will be done in a phased manner. The State Cabinet has approved the proposal as announced by IT Minister KTR.

As per the media reports, it is also said that Telangana Cabinet wants to have a second airport for commercial purposes. It is said that the Cabinet is in plans to use the Hakimpet defence airport. Thinking about the future needs the cabinet reportedly took the decision.

With the Cabinet approving the proposal, the state government is likely to write a letter to the Defence Ministry to let the airport be used. As the airport is being used for defence purposes permission is needed to use it for civil aviation.

If everything goes well, Hyderabad would join the list of cities with two airports for defence and civil aviation. Pune and Goa are already using the airports for hybrid use. The Telangana Cabinet now wants to become like Goa and Pune and use two airports.

Based on the requirement, the airports in Pune and Goa are used for defence and civil aviation needs. If the same happens in Hyderabad then it would be a big advantage for the capital city as the airport traffic can be eased.

Hyderabad has a big airport in Shamshabad named Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. It is the biggest in the country in terms of area. In terms of facilities, it is among the best in the country. In addition to this, the state government wants to have another airport.
