But still, Women are not seen as equal to Men. Women work as hard as Men, but still, Women face issues and troubles.
There is a need to fight for the rights and equal importance of Women. Today marks International Women's Day which is celebrated to bring the focus on issues like gender equality, violence, and abuse against women. Every year Women's Day is celebrated to bring focus to these issues.
International Women's Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. When Women's Day was first celebrated in 1911 it was celebrated on the 19th of March. There is a long history behind the idea of Women's Day.
Back in 1908, women garment workers started a labour movement for their demands-equal pay and less working time. The movement created a sensation back then and this planted the seeds for dedicating a day for women.
The trend of celebrating Women's Day started in 1975 when the United Nations announced 8th March as International Women's Day. Since then we have been celebrating the day for women. Every year there will be a dedicated theme for Women's Day.
Whatever might be the theme of Women's Day, the main idea behind the dedicated day for women is to celebrate women and their success. Even in the 21st Century Women are subjected to mistreatment and discrimination which is a sad thing. To create an awareness of this and bring focus on the importance of creating a healthy atmosphere for women in society.
