The opening stages of the IPL 2026 are nearing completion as every single team except for Royal Challengers Bengaluru have played at least three games till now.

And now that the early trends regarding the positioning on the points table are out, let’s have a look at the best performing and worst performing teams thus far.

It needs to be said that Punjab, Bengaluru and Rajasthan have been the three best performing teams in the league till now. They have been absolutely brilliant with bat and ball in equal counts and the fact that they haven’t lost a single game till now is a testament of the same.

Delhi has also been very good this year but they suffered a close defeat against Gujarat last night, which spoils the party for them. Hyderabad, Gujarat, Lucknow, and Mumbai come in the next subsequent positions as all these teams have won a single game till now. They are to be categorised as the moderate performing teams.

And then we have the case of the worst performing teams, and they are obviously going to be Kolkata and Chennai Super Kings. Neither of these two teams have won a single game till now, and they are sitting at the bottom of the table.

In particular, the remarkable downfall of Chennai, which has historically been one of the most consistent teams in the history of the tournament is leaving everyone shocked. Fans are hoping that the possible return of Dhoni in the upcoming games will change the deal for Chennai.
