The IPL is nearly completing the group stage matches and the top 4 teams have already qualified for the playoffs. But nevertheless, there is some drama going on about the teams that will finish in the top two positions that would make them eligible for the qualifier that would give them not one but two chances to enter the finale.

As of the current positioning on the points table, it is Gujarat, who is at the top with 18 points. In all likelihood, Gujarat will complete the tournament in the top two positions.

Then we have Punjab, which is in second position with 17 points. The advantage for Punjab here is that they have two games in hand and even a single win out of the two games will definitely guarantee them a top two position.

On the other hand, RCB also have 17 points, but we catch here is that they have completed 13 games and have only one left.

Mumbai Indians have 16 points and are in 4th position. Until and unless both Bengaluru and Punjab mess up their remaining games, and Gujarat also loses their last game, Mumbai will be confined to 3rd of 4th position.

The natural projection here is that two out of the current top three teams in the table could be finishing in the top two positions while Mumbai stands an outside chance. But funnier things have happened in the sport of Cricket, and we need not be surprised if Mumbai pulls off a miracle and somehow enters the top two positions.
