Jagan-Adani meet: Did politics come up for discussion?

On Thursday, AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had a unique visitor. He was none other than business baron Gautam Adani. The Gujarati businessman flew in from Ahmedabad and went straight to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s official residence in Tadepalli. The duo remained closeted for quite some time and had dinner together.

But, there is absolute secrecy about that transpired at the meeting. No one knows what were the issues that came up for discussion between the biggest businessman and the strongest politician of AP. Given the reports that Adani is close to prime minister Narendra Modi, the meeting assumes significance.

Several political observers strongly feel that politics too must have come up for discussion. With the general elections barely a few months away, the duo is likely to have discussed the political scenario in the country. They feel that the situation arising out of Chandrababu’s arrest and the likely alliance between the Jana Sena and the TDP too must have come up for discussion.

Adani has already been given several projects. He has already brought a likely investment of up to Rs 20000 crore. There is a demand from Rahul Gandhi for a joint parliamentary committee probe over Adani’s investments across the country. Sources say that even this topic must have come up for discussion.

As of now, everything is shrouded in secrecy. Adani went back as quietly as he came.
