End of the road for KCR's nephew Joginapalli Santosh?

The future of ex-CM's Man Friday and close family member Joginapalli Santosh Kumar seems to be hanging in the balance. This swashbuckling and high-profile Rajya Sabha MP's term is coming to an end on April 2 and his is one of the three Rajya Sabha seats that would soon see elections.

Given the numbers in the house, the BRS can at best get one seat for itself. So, the question is will Santosh be renominated by KCR?

Sources in the BRS say that KCR is working overtime to get the tag of the family party removed. Already, KCR, KTR, Harish and Kavitha are either MLAs or MLCs. Santosh is again a close relation of KCR.

Besides, Boyinapalli Vinod Kumar is ranked high in the party hierarchy. Given this tag of dynasty politics, the party boss may field someone else instead of Santosh. Also, there could be a rebellion if another family member gets the post.

There was muted dissent in the party over Santosh Kumar's first term. However, none could speak against this for fear of incurring KCR's wrath.

But, with the power gone and the party looking very vulnerable, the top leadership may not be able to strongly propose the name of Santosh, say the sources. Hence KCR may not propose his name this time, they argue.

This only means that Joginapalli Santosh's political career is sure to hit a roadblock. He would be left with the job of organizing the green challenge programme, where tree plantation is promoted.

However, even that would lack sting as Santosh and his uncle KCR are out of power in Telangana. So, the celebrities could steer clear of Santosh now.
