When G Kishan Reddy was made the Telangana BJP president after the sudden and unceremonious removal of Bandi Sanjay Kumar, many thought that he would be a docile leader. Given his past record of pacifism, many felt he would be no more than a mere pushover. Kishan Reddy is proving the soothsayers wrong with some firm actions. He has not only organised the Khammam public meeting of Amit Shah quite successfully, but is also working firmly to bring order in the party.

While receiving applications for party tickets for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana, Kishan Reddy issued a strict warning to all the ticket aspirants. He said they should not address the media and announce their candidature either before or after submitting their applications. This firm order shocked the party ticket aspirants. When one or two leaders tried to defy Reddy's diktat, they were firmly told that their applications would be rejected if they talk to the press.

Kishan Reddy came to the party office quite early and personally monitored the application submission process. He personally told some candidates not to talk to the media. Kishan Reddy is also planning to change some district presidents on the question of non performance. This too is being seen as a firm decision. Overall, Kishan Reddy this time is totally different from his earlier stints, say party watchers.

On the first day of receiving applications, a total of 62 candidates have submitted papers. Of them, Saroornagar corporator Akula Srivani has submitted applications for four constituencies - Musheerabad, Maheshwaram, Sanath Nagar and LB Nagar. Similarly, former MLA Kunja Satyavathi has submitted an application for Bhadrachalam reserved constituency. A total of 182 applications were received from 62 candidates.
