A survey has said that the Congress party is making slow but sure progress in popular perception ahead of the assembly elections. The survey report said that the rise in the perception graph is mainly due to the huge success of the Tukkuguda public meeting addressed by Sonia Gandhi and the announcement of the ‘six guarantees’ to the people of the state.

According to the weekly tracker survey report, the Congress support base has gone up by 0.9 percentage points over the last week. Last week, it stood at 39 per cent while this week, it has gone up to 39.9 per cent. The survey has shown that there is a positive sentiment after the announcement of the six guarantees.

At the same time, the survey has said that the BRS still continues to be ahead with a significant lead. The Congress will have to do a lot more ground work to regain the ground, the survey said. The survey said that the BJP’s voting percentage stood at just 9 per cent this week and has remained more and less constant over the last week.

The biggest worry for the Congress is the fact that at least 38 per cent of the respondents said that these six guarantees are very difficult to implement. They would push the state into a financial debt trap, at least 38 per cent felt. Another 24 per cent felt that these promises would not be able to help the Congress revive its fortunes.
