Meta is making a big move to support the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company has announced a new training initiative worth $115 million to help create a skilled workforce for its expanding data center projects across the United States.

The program called America’s Workforce Academy is being launched in partnership with CBRE and Associated Builders and Contractors. It is designed to train workers in important technical fields such as electrical work, HVAC installation, welding, plumbing and fiber-optic technology.

One of the biggest attractions of the program is that it is completely free. The training lasts for five weeks, and participants who successfully complete the course will receive recognized certifications. More importantly, they will also get direct access to job opportunities connected to Meta’s data center construction projects.

Meta says the program will initially operate in states such as Louisiana, Ohio, Indiana and Texas. These locations are seeing major investments in AI infrastructure by creating a huge demand for skilled workers.

The company is currently building its massive Hyperion Data Center in Louisiana. This large scale project requires thousands of trained workers which is one reason Meta is investing heavily in workforce development.

Industry reports suggest that data center construction is growing rapidly. Experts estimate that the construction sector will need hundreds of thousands of additional workers in the coming years. Job postings related to data centers have already increased significantly over the past two years.

Interestingly Meta is focusing not only on software and coding jobs but also on skilled trade professions. The company believes that AI infrastructure cannot be built without electricians, welders, technicians and other hands on workers.

The demand for these jobs is strong. Data center technicians in the United States currently earn an average annual salary of around $88,000. Many training programs also include apprenticeship opportunities and financial support during the learning period.

While Meta continues to invest in AI infrastructure and workforce training, it has also reduced some corporate positions to manage costs. The company believes that building the future of AI requires both advanced technology and a strong skilled workforce.
