Modi's masterstroke may force KCR to alter his candidate list?
This means there would be utter confusion within the party rank and file.
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Sep 2023 4:23 AM GMTIs the BJP throwing all political parties in Telangana, especially the ruling BRS, off gear with its carefully crafted masterly strategies. With the talk of convening a special session of Parliament to get the women's reservation bill passed, the BJP has thrown the BRS into utter confusion. If there are going to be women's reservations, then the candidates list announced by KCR will have to be drastically changed to include more women.
This means there would be utter confusion within the party rank and file. At least in some constituencies, there is likely to be a clamour for tickets from strong women candidates. This means, the already released list may have to be re-worked all over again. At the same time, the party will also have to factor in the possibility of having both state and the Central elections being held at the same time.
In at least 61 of the 119 assembly constituencies in the state, the women voters outnumber men voters. In all the seats in Nizamabad district, women voters outnumber men. Similar is the situation in Khammam district. There is a likelihood that in all these seats, there could be demands from women leaders. This would become another headache for the parties. The Congress too has a similar predicament in seat distribution.
Meanwhile, BRS leader and MLC Kavitha Kalwakuntla made a strong pitch for passing a women's reservation bill during the upcoming special session of parliament. She called upon all the political parties to support the women's reservation bill and ensure its passage in both houses of Parliament. Kavitha has been a strong votary of women's reservation and has even staged a dharna demanding the passage of the bill.
