The big companies in the United States are on a spree of laying off employees. The list includes big names like Google, Tesla, and others. This is a big concern for the H-1 B visa holders as they were laid off. Amidst this, the Immigration Services came up with happy news.

In what could be happy news for the H-1 B visa holders, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced new guidelines. Visa holders who lost their jobs can stay longer there. However, a few conditions were imposed and let us have a look at them.

H-1B visa holders have a 60-day grace period to stay in the United States. The USCIS guidelines say that the holders should apply for changing nonimmigrant status. They should apply for compelling circumstances so that they get eligible for an Employment Authorisation Document (EAD).

The H-1B Visa holders should apply for a non frivolous petition so that they can change their employer. Besides them, there are other guidelines as well that are announced by the USCIS.

This can be seen as a piece of big news for the visa holders as they can get an advantage. The announcement comes at a time when the companies are laying off employees due to various reasons. As H-1B visa holders account for the major share of laid-off employees, the guidelines would surely help them.

They can live there till the grace period and apply for new opportunities which is a good sign. This can be seen as good news for the visa holders.
