National Politics: KCR and Chandrababu Has No Luck?

Every leader wants to shine in national politics. There are many talented leaders in the South. In the past NTR floated TDP and came to power in the combined state. Later he focused on national politics.

NTR called many opposition leaders at the Central level to Andhra Pradesh and held crucial political meetings. At one point he even wanted to float a party named Bharata Desam. The idea blossomed into the National Front. When he became the CM for the second time in 1985, he focused on national politics completely.

NTR served as the Chairman of National Front. AP went to the Lok Sabha elections in 1989 December. As he felt that TDP would win the elections in AP he focused more on campaigning for the national front for the Lok Sabha polls. NTR contested from the Kalwakurthy seat as a second seat and lost.

When he focused again on Andhra Pradesh, the party won the 1994 elections and he became the CM for the third time. TDP won the elections with a bumper majority. Chandrababu who led the party later played a crucial role in the emergence of the United Front at the Centre. He even served as the Convenor. With this, he could not focus on the state.

After 1999 he joined the NDA alliance and served as the Convenor. When he was busy focusing on national politics he lost power in the combined state in 2004. He lost two consecutive terms in elections. He had managed to become the Chief Minister of the divided state in 2014.

He showed interest in national politics before the 2019 elections as well. He toured the nation with Congress and other parties. However, the BJP came to power at the Centre and Chandrababu lost the elections in AP. It shows that every time Chandrababu focused on national politics he tasted a blow.

Now it's the turn of KCR. During the 2019 polls KCR wanted to float the third front. His efforts saw a break as there was less time for Lok Sabha polls and BRS had fewer seats. On the other hand, the BJP came to power.

KCR wanted to win the third election and play a key role in 2024 national politics. With this his party TRS became BRS. He toured the nation for two years. He met the opposition leaders in a few states and held talks.

He was confident of winning the elections. With this he did not focus on the state, say experts. Many say that the recent result is an example of this. Both KCR and Chandrababu who wanted to shine in national politics suffered a big shock.

What impact the leaders from the south would have in Hindi states is a big question. We can see leaders who don't focus on national politics and focus on their state in Tamil Nadu. Be it DMK or AIADMK they don't come out of Tamil Nadu. They invite national leaders if needed. But the regional party heads who tried to shine in national politics saw a shock and this was proved again and again.
