Has the BRS erred by letting former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy leave the party and join the Congress Party? There appears to be a belated realization of how dangerous an adversary Ponguleti could be for the BRS. He has fast grown as the most powerful and influential leader of the Congress from Khammam district.
He has not only ensured that the Khammam meet of the Congress becomes a stupendous success, but also mobilized huge crowds for the Tukkuguda meet of the party, which was addressed by Sonia Gandhi herself. He has shown himself to be an able mobiliser and organizer for the Congress Party in Telangana.

The BRS is now said to be worried over the clout of Ponguleti. The BRS has denied him and his supporters tickets for the 2023 assembly elections. It preferred Puvvada Ajay to Ponguleti. This ranked Ponguleti and he and senior leader and former minister Jupally Krishna Rao have left the BRS to join the Congress Party.
