This Is Why Registration Letters Were Changed To TG: Minister!

After assuming the Chief Minister's office, Revanth Reddy is leaving his mark in the position with big decisions. He had hit the first ball out of the ground by bringing a lot of changes in and around the Pragathi Bhavan. Its name was changed and it was made accessible to the public.

The other day, the winners of the Padma awardees were felicitated by the Telangana government. This is probably the first time a government planned something. The Revanth Reddy-led government took another big decision to change the registration letters.

From the existing TS, it was decided to change to TG. The Cabinet approved the decision and it would come into existence soon. TS letters which have been in existence for around ten years would change now.

Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reacted to this and gave the reason for the change. The Cabinet Minister said that when the state was bifurcated the Centre allocated TG letters to indicate the state. But the BRS government went for TS letters instead.

Ponguleti said that a Gazette Notification was issued by the union government allocating TG as registration letters for the number plates but the previous government took TS letters instead, he said. The Minister added that the Vehicle Registrations would be TG from now on.

It has to be mentioned here that when the movement was going in the late 2000s, the supporters of the movement used TG on their vehicles. They painted TG on top of the existing registration number. Many felt that after the state is formed TG registration will be used. But the reality was different.
