Artificial Intelligence is set to shape the next global power shift, and India must act quickly to stay competitive, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi cautioned while speaking in the Lok Sabha.
He warned that the rapid rise of AI could pose a serious challenge to India’s information technology sector, potentially replacing thousands of software jobs in the coming years if the country fails to adapt.
Rahul Gandhi stressed that technological disruptions are no longer a distant possibility but an immediate reality that governments must prepare for. He noted that automation and AI driven systems are already transforming industries worldwide, making it essential for India to invest in future ready skills, innovation, and digital infrastructure.
At the same time, he highlighted India’s unique advantages that could help the nation emerge as a global leader in the AI era. Gandhi pointed to the country’s 1.4 billion people as a vast pool of talent capable of driving innovation. He also underlined the importance of India possessing one of the world’s largest data resources, which could become a critical asset in building advanced AI systems.
Additionally, he emphasized that strong food and energy security provide India with a stable foundation for long term growth. With the right policy direction and preparedness, he suggested, India can turn the AI revolution into an opportunity rather than a threat.
