RCB to be sold: New Management Coming?
Despite not having won the IPL trophy in the last 17 years, Royal Challengers, Bengaluru happened to be the most followed team in the tournament
By: Tupaki Desk | 10 Jun 2025 3:18 PM ISTDespite not having won the IPL trophy in the last 17 years, Royal Challengers, Bengaluru happened to be the most followed team in the tournament, and they finally created history by winning the trophy for the first time this year.
However, it appears that the trophy winning team is still undergoing serious changes at the management level as the latest update updates are suggesting that the existing owners are looking to sell the franchise.
After winning their first-ever IPL title, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made headlines again. Reports suggest that the team’s owners are now planning to sell the franchise for a whopping ₹16,834 crore. RCB is owned by United Spirits, a subsidiary of the global liquor giant Diageo.
Sources say that the company sees this as a good time to exit with massive profits, especially after the recent IPL victory that has boosted the team’s value. United Spirits had bought the RCB franchise in 2008 for just ₹218 crore. The reported selling price now shows how much the value of IPL teams has grown over the years.
Experts believe that RCB’s brand value, popularity, and recent success have made it an attractive investment. The franchise is known for its strong fan base, famous players like Virat Kohli, and high social media presence.
If this deal happens, it would be one of the biggest in IPL history. However, there is no official confirmation yet from the company or potential buyers.
