Supreme Court Unhappy With Media Trials In Cases

Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary are three pillars of society, and media is regarded as the fourth pillar. This is the prominence given to the media. The news carried out by the media gets a wide range of importance. However, sometimes the media goes out of the line and crosses the line.

Media trials are a big concern and the Supreme Court has made some interesting comments on this. The Apex Court reportedly expressed its dissatisfaction with the media trials and the biased reporting on the issues. Having said that, the country's top court urged the Union Home Ministry to submit the guidelines for this.

Not just that, the Supreme Court also said that guidelines should be framed for the cops on the rules that need to be followed in press meets when dealing with criminal cases. Three months was also granted.

Saying that the media trials are impacting the Administration of justice, the Supreme Court issued directives to the top police officers to send their suggestions in one month. The next hearing in the case is slated in January.

Now the focus is on the Union Home Ministry to see what suggestions and guidelines it would mention before the court. As the next hearing is slated for commencement in January, we might get clarity in a few months.
