Increasing the political heat the issue came to light before the Lok Sabha elections. Quid-pro quo allegations were also made. The Supreme Court gave crucial orders earlier.
The Electoral bond details were revealed due to the Supreme Court's orders. This created a space to learn about the donations the political parties have received from private entities. Not just the national parties but the regional parties also received the donations.
In what could be a big relief to the parties the Supreme Court said no to SIT probe. It is known that there is a demand for SIT probe into the issue and a few petitions were filed in the Top Court. The petitions grabbed everyone's attention. However, the Supreme Court said no to the probe.
The bench of the Supreme Court said that there is no need to call the SIT probe into this and called the petitions premature. The Top Court said that intervening now would be inappropriate and said no to the probe.
This can be seen as a big relief to the political parties. The parties including the Ruling BJP faced severe criticism over the electoral bonds. The parties were accused of taking the donations from the private entities and benefiting the private organisations.
However, the Supreme Court said that there is no need for SIT probe in the issue and dismissed the petitions that were filed seeking the directives calling for SIT probe.
