TDP To Go To Elections On Amaravati Stand?
Now it appears that the Telugu Desam Party is going to the polls with the Amaravati agenda.
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Aug 2023 9:54 AM GMTAndhra Pradesh will go for the general elections next year and the political parties are busy drawing strategies. While the ruling YSRCP is confident in its welfare schemes' the opposition parties are trying their best to bank on the negative image of it. Winning the elections is the need of the hour for the TDP as far as its future is concerned.
Now it appears that the Telugu Desam Party is going to the polls with the Amaravati agenda.TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh met a few farmers and it is said that the former Minister said that Amaravati will be the capital city of the state and the party would develop it.
Talking about Amaravati' Nara Lokesh said that Amaravati will be developed as the capital city and if the Telugu Desam Party comes to power then the region will be developed in just three years. This hints at the party's strategy.
As there is not much time' the parties should have a strategy and it appears that the TDP wants to go ahead with the Amaravati stand. Moreover' Amaravati has a special connection with the Telugu Desam Party and its chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
When Telangana was formed from the combined state and Andhra Pradesh was divided' Telugu Desam Party came to power in 2014. As the state has no capital city' the party proposed Amaravathi as the capital city. Thousands of acres of land were pooled for the capital region. The High Court and a few other buildings were also constructed.
But everything went for a toss with the change in power. YCP came into the government and proposed the idea to have three capitals. But the farmers and locals did not like this and waged a war. They have been fighting in the court to see that Amaravati stays as the lone capital.
Given the significance of Amaravati and the sentiment it has' Telugu Desam Party might be thinking of banking on it. As it was proposed by the party in the previous government' Telugu Desam Party has the possibility of taking the credit for developing a capital city with the latest facilities if it comes to power.
If we take any capital city' they were developed a few decades back based on the then situations. If it rains heavily then the people would see big issues. But this can be countered if the capital city is developed for future needs.
