Meet The Seniors In The Telugu Desam Party!

The first Assembly sessions after the change in government in Andhra Pradesh are slated to commence soon. Ahead of this Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary is picked as Pro-tem speaker till the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected in the House. Usually, the seniors in the house are elected for the speaker and the same happened in Telangana earlier.

With this, the focus went on to the debate on who are the seniors in the TDP MLAs. The list is interesting as it includes Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu who won nine times. It is known that CBN has been winning the Kuppam seat and he won the seat nine times in a row.

Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary: The senior leader is in second place in this. The 78-year-old has been with the TDP since his early days. He won seven times as the MLA. He won as MLA from both Rajahmundry Rural and City seats. In 1996 he tried his luck as MP but could not succeed.

Ayyannapatrudu Chintakayala: Another senior on the list. After Gorantla Ayyanna also won seven times as the MLA. He has been sticking to the Narsipatnam seat. He won the seat six times in the combined and divided state. Many wonder why Gorantla was picked as a Pro-tem speaker. Ayyanna was already picked as the Speaker.

Kinjarapu Atchannaidu: The senior leader who has been with the party in every thick and thin held various posts in the government. His family is very strong in the Srikakulam region. He won the Tekkali seat as many as six times. He is currently serving as the Cabinet Minister.

Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar: The Ponnur MLA won as many as six times as a legislator. His political career started in 1994 when he won his first elections. He entered politics following the steps of his father Dhulipalla Veeraiah Chowdary. He made valuable contributions to the dairy industry in the state.

Nandyala Varadarajulu Reddy: The 78-year-old was with the Congress party earlier. He joined the TDP later and won the elections. In total, he won six times from the Proddatur seat.

Anam Ramanarayana Reddy: He won six times from various seats in Nellore. He is dubbed as one of the tall leaders in the Nellore district. He was with the TDP earlier and joined the Congress and served as Minister in YSR’s cabinet. From YCP he joined TDP in 2023 after he was suspended.

Kanna Lakshminarayana: The former weightlifter took a shift towards politics at an early age. His career is a few decades old. He has been winning the Guntur West Assembly seat. So far he has won six times.

Kimidi Kalavenkata Rao: The 70-year-old leader has been with the party since its inception. Including the 2024 polls, he won Five times so far as an MLA. Earlier he served as the TTD Chairman.

Gottipati Ravi Kumar: The five-time MLA has been in politics for some time and he even served as the Cabinet Minister. He won four times from the Addanki seat and once from the Martur Assembly segment.

Payyavula Keshav: He is a big name in the Rayalaseema region. He hails from a political family and his father Payyavula Venkata Narayana was a DCC Chief and served as the MLA. However, he joined the TDP and was given a chance by NTR. He contested six times from the Uravakonda seat and won five times. In the new government, he is selected as the Cabinet Minister.
