Since the party came to power at the Centre in 2014 we have been hearing a lot of Hindutva politics. The opposition parties have been targeting the BJP for Hindutva politics.
15 years before BJP was floated, a Hindutva party was born in Maharashtra which is Siva Sena. Bal Thackeray who had a fierce image founded the party. To express his views on various issues he started the Marathi newspaper Saamana. The party has been a deciding factor in the state politics.
The grand old Shiv Sena party which enjoyed good control of Maharashtra politics has been dealing with a crisis for a few years. At the peak of the crisis, the party and the election symbol were lost by Bal Thackeray's son Uddhav Thackeray who served as the Chief Minister earlier.
It is known that the Shiv Sena party was divided into two factions. While one is led by party chief Uddhav Thackeray, the other faction is led by rebel MLA-turned-current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. A big battle has been going on between the sides to see who is the owner of the party and symbol.
In almost a death blow to Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar said that the Eknath Shinde faction is the real Shiv Sena and announced the decision. The Chief Minister's camp is very happy with the verdict and is celebrating the news.
However, Uddhav Thackeray's camp is not happy with this. NCP, which was part of the alliance in Maharashtra supported Thackeray in this row and said that the decision is the murder of democracy.
No one would have predicted that Bal Thackeray's son would face such situations as he lost the party ownership to a rebel MLA. Even the party symbol was also allocated to Eknath Shinde's camp.
Shiv Sena faced a big blow with rebel MLAs led by Eknath Shinde coming out of the party. They not only left the party but joined hands with the BJP. With a big strength, the BJP-supported faction came to power with Eknath Shinde becoming the Chief Minister.
