Unusual Metaphor: US Official Equates India Ties To Poori!

India and America have been friendly nations for a long time. The trade ties are also good between India and America. After the BJP came to power at the Centre, Narendra Modi visited many countries and his tours aimed at strengthening the ties. The tours gave a positive result as far as the ties are concerned.

India and the US are working on making the ties even stronger. Now an US official made some interesting comments on the ties and equated ties with Poori. The official said that the ties are not like Chapatahi but like Poori, big ties.

A virtual meeting was held between officials of both nations to strengthen bilateral trade. US Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey R Pyatt who attended the meeting made an unusual metaphor for the ties and said that like Poori the ties are big.

He said that the trade ties are good between the nations and they want to make ties even stronger. To highlight the ties he said that the ties are like not chapati, where the ties are flat. But the ties have puffed like puri. His observations caught everyone’s attention.

Having given a strange example of the ties, the US official mentioned the key incidents to back this. The US secretary highlighted the support extended by the Indian Navy to the US in fighting Yemen's Houthi rebels. He said that the support helped the US fight the rebels.

As another example, the US Secretary of State for Energy Resources cited the growth in the goods exports. He drew a comparison between the exports in 2022 and the previous year. He said that in 2022 the exports recorded $47.2 billion which was an uptick of 17.9 per cent rise from the previous year.
