Vemulawada BRS splits into three groups: Headache for KCR?

Have Telangana CM and BRS boss KCR’s calculations on Vemulawada assembly seat gone awry? Have his best laid plans for this seat gone kaput because of the local factors, which are in full play in Vemulawada? Is the official candidate of the party finding the going quite tough due to local politics?

In fact, Vemulawada was one of the very few seats where the BRS replaced the sitting MLA. Sitting MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh was embroiled in a citizenship row and remained out of the country for most part of his tenure. As a result, KCR replaced him with Chalmeda Lakshminarasimha Rao, who has enough ground support in the constituency.

Realising that Ramesh could throw a spanner in the works, KCR appointed him agricultural advisor, which is a cabinet rank. However, despite the plum post, Chennamaneni Ramesh has begun non-cooperation with Chalmeda. His supporters are not attending the meetings called by Chalmeda.

In addition, Yenugu Manohar Reddy, another ticket aspirant, too is unhappy. He tried to plead his case with KTR, but to no avail. Now, he is said to be planning to teach Chalmeda a lesson. He and his supporters are now said to be weighing the options before them. Thus, Chalmeda is caught in a pincer with both Chennamaneni and Manohar trying to pin him down. It remains to be seen how KCR will solve this puzzle.
