Big Arrest By CM Vijay: Former Cabinet Minister Taken Into Custody

Immediately after taking charge as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Thalapathy Vijay promised to take action on previous Cabinet minister of the DMK government who faced corruption allegations.

There is a pretty significant development in this direction as the Vijay government has instructed the Chennai Police to arrest former Cabinet minister Anbil Mahesh.

Former Tamil Nadu School Education Minister and DMK leader Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has been taken into custody by the Chennai Central Crime Branch police.

The arrest follows the Madras High Court's dismissal of his anticipatory bail plea . He is implicated in a multi-crore private school approval scam involving the alleged collection of over ₹100 crore.

There are several allegations that Mahesh is involved in financially regularities during the DMK time in power and is known for collecting party funds on the party behalf. It was always suspected that he could be facing a legal consequences, and it has happened now.

This is one of the biggest arrest made by chief minister Vijay after taking charge as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu and it could certainly have political consequences as well.

This is largely due to the fact that Mahesh is a very close associate of DMK president Stalin and is one of the big names in Chennai politics. It has to be seen how the DMK leadership would be reacting to this arrest of one of their prominent leaders.
