As today marks Raksha Bandhan she shared a post tracing the history behind the festival. However, the post did not go well with many and she became the target of criticism.
Sudha Murty said that the tradition of celebrating Raksha Bandhan started long ago when Rani Karnavati had sent a thread to King Humayun seeking his help and this is where the tradition started.
"Raksha Bandhan has a rich history. When Rani Karnavati was in danger, she sent a thread to King Humayun as a symbol of sibling-hood, asking for his help. This is where the tradition of the thread began and it continues to this day," Sudha Murty posted.
However, a section of netizens trolled her saying that is not the real history, and asked her to not share a wrong history. Many said that the tradition goes back to Mahabharata days and Draupadi had sent a Raksha Bandhan sutra to Lord Krishna.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated by Hindus and it is followed by Jains too. The festival is celebrated in Shravan Maasam and many believe that the tradition started with Lord Krishna and since then the festival has been followed.
However, Sudha Murty giving the example of Rani Karnavati and King Humayun did not go well with many and she is trolled by the netizens as they felt they gave a wrong history.
