Why did BJP’s young gun and former home minister T Devender Goud’s son Tulla Veerender Goud leave for New Delhi with senior Congress leader and two-time MP Madhu Yashki Goud? This chance sighting of the two leaders travelling together to New Delhi has set the rumour mill on fire. The chatterati is debating if Goud is joining the Congress Party.

Veerender Goud is a formidable leader of Uppal constituency and has polled a massive number of votes in the 2018 elections despite losing. Now, he is being touted as the BJP candidate from Uppal or Maheshwaram. The party too has given him crucial responsibilities ahead of the 2023 assembly elections. However, his leaving for Delhi probably to meet Sonia Gandhi has set off a furious debate about whether he would leave the BJP and latch on to the Congress Party’s bandwagon.

Tulla Devender Goud’s visit coincides with the visit of TPCC chief Revanth Reddy, former Telangana PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. The Congress party has summoned them for deciding on the party candidates for the upcoming assembly elections later this year.

However, sources close to Goud say that these rumours have no basis and that Goud would contest on the BJP ticket only. They argue that there is no plan to leave the BJP and join the Congress Party in the state. They feel that these rumours are aimed at tarnishing the image of Veerender Goud. As of now, with Goud not coming out with any clarification, the buzz over his ditching the BJP is refusing to abate.
