Despite Mahanadu success, no one seems to be joining TDP

The opposition TDP, which expected a deluge of joinings into the party in the wake of the stupendous success of the Rajahmundry Mahanadu, seems to be in for a big disappointment. The party expected at least six to seven sitting YSRCP MLAs to join the TDP after the stupendous success of the Mahanadu. However, that does not seem to be happening.

The TDP wanted to organize key party joinings during Lokesh Babu's yatra so that the yatra gets massive media coverage. However, the YSRCP MLAs appear to be utterly lukewarm to the TDP overtures. Not only have nobody joined the TDP, but also they have openly said that they would rather prefer to sail with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The reason? Political watchers say Chandrababu's comments on Joinings is the villain of the piece. Chandrababu had said that only one out of the six MLAs who join the TDP, would be given the party tickets to contest for the upcoming elections. This has proved to be a dampener for the candidates wishing to join the TDP. Many have reportedly dropped their plans to join the TDP.

Also, many YSRCP biggies, who include former ministers and former MLAs, are not very enthusiastic about joining the TDP in the presence of Nara Lokesh. They feel Lokesh is too junior for them. By joining the party in his presence, they would rather lower their own standing in the eyes of the general public. Hence, they are not too keen to join the party.
