The usage of Antibiotics that fight bacterial infections has increased massively in the country. The situation is such that people use antibiotics even for small health issues. Medical Research Body Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) has made some serious comments on the same and warned doctors about antibiotics.

Advising doctors on prescribing antibiotics, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that over usage of antibiotics will increase the ability of disease-causing gems to withstand them. This makes it tough to provide treatment for the concerning diseases.

Having said that, the ICMR advised the doctors to follow certain guidelines in prescribing antibiotics. To identify the infection a clinical diagnosis should be done. This gives a chance in identifying the correct antibiotics for treating the infection, the body said.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) conducted a survey between January 1 and December 31, 2021, on the usage of antibiotics. Announcing the survey results, the medical body said that it is not advisable to prescribe antibiotics to those who have a fever with a temperature of 100.4 degrees to 102.2 degrees. ICMR also advised the doctors to be cautious about the antibiotics which are used to treat Anti bronchitis.

Talking about the symptoms of viral bronchitis, the ICMR said that uneasiness, cough, difficulties in taking a breath, and cold and fever are the symptoms and doctors have to be cautious that they should not prescribe antibiotics.

The apex medical body also said that if doctors have to prescribe antibiotics then they should consider the medical history of bronchitis patients. Talking about the powerful antibiotic carbapenem antibiotics, the ICMR said that it is not working for the patients and blamed the over usage of the antibiotics for this. The carbapenem antibiotics is unable to fight the bacteria easily which is a big concern, it said.

In its recent survey, the Indian Council of Medical Research told a piece of shocking news that using antibiotics for every small condition is not good and will impact people. It is high time for doctors and people to understand this and grow their awareness of the usage of antibiotics.
