Is Kurasala Kannababu making a comeback in YSRCP?

Finally, the ousted ministers of the YSRCP government are being brought out of the closet. The latest to come out into the open is journalist-turned- politician and former minister Kurasala Kannababu. The former minister, who has been keeping a low profile after he was dropped from the Jagan's council of ministers, has now opened up again.

The other day, Kannababu addressed a press conference on the three-capitals issue and slammed the TDP for politicising the issue. He strongly backed the three-capitals proposal and said that it would help in the all-round development of all the three regions of the state. This was the first press meet that he addressed after he was dropped.

Kannababu, a journalist based in Kakinada, entered politics through Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party. Later, he joined the Congress when the PRP was merged with the Congress. He also went on to become a minister. Post 2014, he joined the YSRCP. In 2019, he was made a minister in the YS Jagan cabinet. But ever since he was dropped from the cabinet, he has been keeping a low profile.

Though the party has made him the district unit president, his writ does not run and it is Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy, whose writ runs large. Now that the YSRCP has decided to revive the three-capital issue all over again, the party has fielded Kannababu. Will this mean rehabilitation for Kannababu? Will it mean that he would become more active again in the party politics of West Godavari? Let's wait and see how things unfold.
