The new government took charge in Karnataka as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister took oath earlier today. Massive arrangements were made for the ceremony and various opposition leaders were also invited for the occasion. Chief Ministers of other states were also invited and they graced the ceremony held in Bengaluru. Besides Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar, eight Cabinet Ministers took oath today.

A senior MLA got lucky and got the Cabinet post. Though this is not the first time, he was made a Minister, he was picked in the initial list of MLAs who were added to the new cabinet. The legislator won as an MLA for as many as eight times.

BTM Layout Assembly constituency MLA Ramalinga Reddy was given a chance and he took oath today. It is said that his clean image and non-involvement in any controversy made the party leadership pick him.

Ramalinga Reddy is one of the tall leaders in the state and it is said that he enjoys a good grip on Bengaluru and this factor also helped him in getting picked our others while picking the candidates for the first Cabinet.

The civic body elections in Bengaluru, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections would be held soon. Thinking that his influence would be a helping factor in the elections, the party is said to have picked him. Moreover, he earlier served as the Cabinet Minister.

Reddy served as the Cabinet Minister for the first time in 1992 in the Veerappa Moily government. When Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister between 2013 to 18, he was given the big portfolio of the Home Ministry. Despite holding a big portfolio, there were no negative remarks against him.

Ramalinga Reddy served as MLA from the Jayanagar constituency for four terms and has been serving from the BTM Layout Assembly constituency for four terms. Even in the recent Assembly elections, he emerged victorious.
