TDP To Use MLC Elections To Deal With Rebel Leaders

The 2019 general elections saw a change in the power in the state. The YSRCP came to power with a landslide victory by crushing the TDP. The grand old Telugu Desam Party recorded its worst performance in the elections since its inception. Now a lot of questions are raised on the future of the TDP.

The TDP is now giving its best to win the elections. Besides this, the party leadership is also said to be in plans to deal with the rebel leaders with an iron fist. Political experts say that the party is in plans to use the upcoming MLC elections for its betterment.

It is known that the MLC elections are fast approaching in the state. To deal with the rebel leaders, the TDP wants to issue a whip for the polls. With this, the rebel leaders will be left with no other option other than voting for the TDP candidate. The TDP tried this earlier and the rebel leaders voted for the party candidate.

As the rebel leaders Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Karanam Balram, Maddala Giri, and Vasupalli Ganesh are getting salaries as the TDP leaders, they should follow the leadership. So if a whip is issued then they would vote. If not then the leadership would move the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The top election commission would take any action for the same as per the rule book. This would be a big blow to the rebel leaders. To miss the action, they had to vote for the candidate contesting from the Telugu Desam Party. If this happens it would be a big win for the party.

Even if the rebel leaders choose to stay away from voting in the elections, the Telugu Desam Party might get two votes from the ruling party rebel leaders. It is known that Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Anam Ramnarayana Reddy turned rebels and troubled the party. To send a signal that they want to walk with the TDP, they would vote for the opposition party.

If either of these happens, the TDP would get an upper hand and the leadership would shock the rebel leaders. It appears that the TDP wants to use the MLC polls as a weapon.
