Two parties... Two foundation days... Two different moods...

Last week saw the foundation days of two parties were organized in Andhra Pradesh. Both were contrasts in style and substance. Ahead of the crucial 2024 elections, these foundation day programmes have stories to tell of their own. The first was the 13th foundation day of the ruling YSRCP held on Sunday and the other one is the 10th foundation day of the Jana Sena.

The YSRCP foundation day was a muted one. There weren't too many celebrations. NO major programmes were organized anywhere in the state. Even YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was not his exuberant self. He merely tweeted on the day and was done with it. The mood was sullen and the response was subdued.

In contrast, the Jana Sena foundation day was a big affair, but a centrally organized one. The foundation day was not celebrated in the nook and corner of the state. However, Pawan Kalyan managed to ensure that the spotlight was on him. He spoke about the party's plans for future, but stopped short of revealing the closely-held cards on the possible alliances.

The YSRCP appears to be in a wait and watch mode in view of the rising anti-incumbency across the state. The party is in a contemplative mode. It is now busy planning its strategy for the 2024 elections. At the same time, Pawan Kalyan too is keeping his options open on the issue of electoral strategy.
