Will Ambati Rayudu play a political innings?

When Ambati Rayudu played cricket, he was considered dependable, but not many teams wanted him. Despite his long career, he was a lot less flashy than many of his colleagues. But, now that he has put cricket behind, he appears to be much in demand, though not in cricket, but in politics. He is much sought after by all the parties in the Telugu states. There are offers after offers for him.
The whole issue came to light when Rayudu lauded YS Jagan's speeches on Twitter and said that the state was eager to follow in his footsteps. Then, he came all the way to Tadepalli and met YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. This gave rise to speculations about his political entry. There was a strong buzz that the YSRCP would field him from one of the Kapu belt seats of the state.
Soon, the TDP jumped into the fray and recalled that Ambati Rayudu's grandfather was a sarpanch and that he was a diehard TDP man. Then the TDP reportedly sent feelers to him with an offer of a party ticket. The TDP wants Ambati Rayudu to contest from Guntur Lok Sabha seat. The reason? Incumbent MP Galla Jayadev is reportedly not interested in contesting this time. So, Rayudu would fit the bill. After all, Rayudu is a native of Guntur and still has strong roots there.
In another development, Telangana PCC vice-president and a former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin has reportedly offered him the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency ticket to Ambati Rayudu. The reason? Sitting MP Revanth Reddy wants to fight the assembly elections from Kodangal. The Congress is looking for a suitable candidate to contest from Malkajgiri, say sources.
One does not know which party Rayudu would choose. But, more importantly, he appears to be taking the guard for a new innings. Like a seasoned batsman, he would not open all his strategies so soon.
