Will Congress agree to the opposition parties' 'One-to-One' proposal?

How will the Congress Party react to the non-BJP opposition party's proposal of One-to-One election contest in at least 450 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections? Will it agree to the proposal? Or will it disagree with it? This crucial question remains unanswered in the run-up to the crucial June 23 Patna meeting of the opposition parties.
If the Congress agrees to the proposal, then it will have to wash its hands off West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, the whole of south India except Kerala and Karnataka, Odisha and even Maharashtra. This means, the party would end up contesting only up to 200 seats in the country. This would further weaken it and would make it dependent on the non-BJP opposition parties in case the BJP fails to win an absolute majority.
Many Congress leaders feel that the plan to weaken the BJP is actually a plan to weaken the Congress Party. This would give a walkover to parties like the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal, Trinamool Congress, DMK, Left Front in Kerala, NCP in Maharashtra and in states like Telangana, AP, Odisha and Jharkhand, it would be reduced to a non-entity.
In states like Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, only Congress is in a position to take on the BJP. Also, in states like Punjab, Jammu Kashmir, Kerala and Telangana, its main enemy is not the BJP but a regional party. Hence, it remains interesting to see how Congress reacts to the proposal from the Opposition parties.
