Indian cinema right now is clearly leaning towards one zone, which happens to be period, mythological, and fantasy. From Bollywood to the Telugu industry, everyone is chasing scale, rooted stories, and larger-than-life worlds. The audience is also responding big time to such movies, with their amazing turn-up in theatres, irrespective of the word of mouth around those films. And for these films to click big time, the songs and background score are extremely important.

If we have to talk about composers who would create such extreme magic in such films, surely the names Ajay–Atul stand out. They are known in Tollywood for giving stunning music for Superstar Prabhas’ Adipurush. That’s the biggest positive of the movie, with songs like Jai Shriram Rajaram hitting top charts even today. Whether the film works or not, their music almost always lands. Look at films like Tumbbad, Thugs of Hindostan, Panipat, Tanhaji, which speak volumes about their work. Their work is always Powerful, rooted, and emotionally heavy. Their latest work for Raja Shivaji is another example. The recently released anthem has already created a strong impact with an instant goosebumps factor.

That brings us to an obvious question now. Why hasn’t Telugu cinema fully tapped into this duo? They did Telugu debut long back with Ravi Teja’s Shock, and as the film’s result fumbled, they were never roped in again. Now they are set to return with Vijay Deverakonda’s Rana Bali movie, which might be game-changing for their Telugu career, but beyond that, the composers are not being considered for other biggies. At a time when Telugu cinema is actively exploring mythological and fantasy spaces, having composers like Ajay–Atul could be a huge advantage.
