EC Permits Yatra TV Premiere Before Elections

Update: 2019-04-06 16:43 GMT
MAA TV decided to hold the Television Premiere of 'Yatra', which is the biopic of former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, at 12 PM on April 7th (Sunday).

Upon knowing about it, TDP Leaders lodged a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that screening 'Yatra' four days before the polling in Andhra Pradesh is an attempt to influence the voters. Election Commission, however, didn't find it as a valid reason to stop the TV Premiere.

A clear indication has been sent to the Ruling TDP that TV Premiere or Theatrical Screening won't come under its purview. Finally, Permission was granted for the release of 'Yatra' on Sunday on grounds that it doesn't violate election code of conduct.

TDP Camp is worried about the impact of 'Yatra' on the people of AP. This biopic certainly makes the voters recall all the good work done by YSR from 2004 to 2009.
