Ilaiyaraja Asks Young Composers To Stop Using His Songs!

Update: 2019-05-28 07:42 GMT
Ilaiyaraja has been fighting a battle with famous disc labels and music companies about royalties for his songs.

He gave statements that made him seem arrogant and he asked, "If you are using my songs, why shouldn't I make money?" To prove his point, he even sent notices to his friend and singer, SP Balu.

Recently, they reconciled and the composer now gave few more controversial statements. He said, "Young composers lack talent and hence, they are using my songs!"

He claimed, "If you defend yourself to be talented, you should create your own music, not modify my tunes or just copy.

RD Burman never used other's hardwork and one should be like him. I made my songs in 80's and they shouldn't be used today.

One should make different songs that suit to today's kind of storytelling and express romance in relevant manner and they don't need my songs for that."

Well, he makes some good points but calling young composers talent-less is going too far. They might have be using such songs out of insistence of directors and producers, who love Ilaiyaraja's classics.
