Is Superstardom A Problem For Mahesh?

Krishna won an identification among masses as Star hero and went on to become a Superstar in next 5 years. Many pundits and his fans from previous generation say that his Superstardom started with his 100th film, Alluri Seetharamaraju and 200th Film, Eenadu is a witness for everyone in the Industry.

With Superstardom, many of his movies had to adhere to certain story limits and that lead to more flops for him than any other hero before he could complete 300.

Now, for Mahesh this Superstar image seems to have brought a new challenge. In every Rajni film, in a song or in a scene or in number of scenes at times, his looks and his image is touched upon breaking 4th fall.

Mahesh songs and stories are going that way too. Either his looks as a handsome man are praised to no end or his superstar image is highlighted with words like "Bhookampanudu" and recently, "Maharshi".

In Sarileru Neekevvaru, he has songs that praise his looks - "He is so Hot" and praise his image - "Suryudivo Chadrudivo".

Directors seem to be trying to use a format that worked for Rajni kind of a hero but are forgetting that even Rajni needs a strong story that shows him as "a common man who can do superhuman things" to satisfy his fans. Hope, our filmmakers will understand too.

Even Megastar Chiranjeevi at the peak of his career, needed to re-invent himself after being tagged into a corner with image as Master, Hitler and with Bavagaru Bagunnara. One shouldn't forget that!
