We have seen OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video spending heavily on buying films and facing losses as those movies get negative talk. Films like 'Gulabo Sitabo', 'V' and 'Nishabdham' failed to impress the audience and the OTT platform which bought this film for having prizes hasn't benefitted in any manner.
Popular streaming site Netflix has been careful till date and selected good films. But experts say that Netflix took a wrong step with 'Miss India'. The Keerthy Suresh starrer was reportedly bought for 11 crores by Netflix and they hoped to recover it when this film gets a positive talk. But their plans were turned upside down as critics panned this movie and viewers who watched this film already gave a thumbs down straight away.
The satellite rights of 'Miss India' was said to be sold for 4 crores. Since the film was made on a limited budget, the producers may walk away with profits but it is not the case with buyers who fetched huge rates.
