Ilaiyaraaja is the popular music composer in the film industry who has been serving the industry for decades. Recently, the government of India recognised his work and awarded him with Padma Vibhushan. The entire nation felt happy when maestro Ilayaraja was honoured with Padma Vibhushan award but it looks like a leading news daily was not completely happy with ut. The paper has come up with connecting this achievement to a caste which resulted in a huge outrage. Soon after this a lot of outrage has happened on the social media, the national daily has come up with an apology on the front page with a headline "Apologies, Maestro".
In their apology, they have written, "We apologize for a headline in our edition, dated Jan 26, regarding music maestro, Mr.Ilayaraja, being awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian honour in the country. We wish to clarify that we did not mean to diminish his stature by any means, Mr.Ilayaraja is universally acclaimed for his singular achievements in the field of music and the recognition given to him is entirely on this account and no other factor. We deeply regret the wrong message the headlines have conveyed."
An apology from them when needed is certainly commendable job on the newspaper editorial team's part but they should have thought twice before actually committing the mistake.
