Senior Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor lashed out director Anurag Basu after his son Ranbir Kapoor's latest film 'Jagga Jasoos' turned out to be a dud at the box office. He termed the film's director Anurag Basu as 'irresponsible'. He has even taken pot shots at the music director Preetham.
'Jagga Jasoos' is made with a budget of Rs. 110 crores and Ranbir Kapoor is one of the producers of this film. The movie has collected Rs. 45 crores in the first weekend, but the collections have dropped by a huge 85% in the second week. Upset with the result of the film, Rishi Kapoor breathed fire on Anurag Basu in an interview given to a leading English daily.
He said that "Can you believe we have seen the film on Thursday, just a day before the release. He was mixing the film till Wednesday. Preetham probably delivered music only a week before. Today's filmmakers are not showing the film to the producer even before a week to take the opinions. They are doing this to everybody. They are feeling as if they are making a nuclear bomb. I didn't hate the film or love it either. I felt that the movie needed scissoring a good 20 minutes of excess length. But who'll give that opinion to them if they show the film just a day before the release?"
"I totally agree with Ekta Kapoor for throwing him out of their film. He had similar problems with Rakesh Roshan when he made 'Kites'. He is an irresponsible director. The movie was supposed to be released three times in the last two years. But it was delayed." Continuing further, he said "You have even thrown Govinda out of the film. If you don't want to work with Govinda, why did you ask him in the first place ?"
